Effective 20 September 2026 · Briefcaster, by JEM Studios

These terms cover your use of the Briefcaster app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. By using the app you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be got past — if anything here is unclear, write to james@harborviewholdings.group and ask.

What Briefcaster is

Briefcaster is a podcast player. It plays the newest short news bulletin from each source you choose, one after another. Every source is an ordinary podcast RSS feed that its publisher has put out for public subscription — the same feeds every other podcast app reads.

Briefcaster fetches each feed directly from the publisher and streams the audio from the server the publisher publishes it from. No audio is copied, cached, re-hosted, edited, or served from anywhere else, and nothing is inserted into or removed from what the publisher broadcasts.

What Briefcaster is not

Briefcaster is an independent player. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any broadcaster, publisher, or news organization whose programming it can play, and no such organization has reviewed or approved it. All copyright and other rights in the programming stay entirely with the organizations that produce it.

Briefcaster does not write, edit, commission or check the news it plays, and is not responsible for what any broadcaster says. If a bulletin is wrong, the place to take that up is the broadcaster.

Your licence to use the app

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Briefcaster on devices you own or control, for your own listening. You may not resell it, rent it, redistribute it, or charge other people for access to it.

You may not use the app to redistribute, rebroadcast, or publicly perform the audio it plays. Publishers put these feeds out for personal listening, and your use of them remains subject to each publisher’s own terms.

You may not attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer the app except to the extent the law of your country says you may do so regardless of this paragraph.

Feeds you add yourself

Briefcaster lets you add any podcast RSS feed of your own. A feed you add is yours: it is stored only on your device, it is never sent to us, and we do not review it. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to listen to what you point the app at.

Sources come and go

Publishers control their own feeds and may change, move, or withdraw them at any time. That is the usual reason a source stops playing, and it is outside our control. We fix feeds as they break and add new ones, but we do not promise that any particular source will be available at any particular time.

If you publish one of these feeds and would prefer it were not listed, write to james@harborviewholdings.group and it will be removed.

Payment

Briefcaster is free to use with a limited number of sources. Unlocking the full catalogue is a purchase — monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime unlock.

All purchasing is handled by the platform’s own store: Apple’s App Store on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and Google Play on Android. You pay Apple or Google, not us. Subscriptions renew automatically at the standard price until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them in your store account — Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, or Google Play › Payments and subscriptions. Refunds are handled by whichever store you bought from, under that store’s own policy.

Your payment is for the player — the catalogue, the continuous playback, and the work of keeping hundreds of feeds working. It is not for the news itself, which each broadcaster publishes free.

Privacy

Briefcaster has no accounts and collects nothing about you. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is stored on your device and what is not, and forms part of these terms.

No warranty

Briefcaster is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every source will always work — it depends on hundreds of servers we do not run and on your own network. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement. In some countries that includes statutory guarantees that apply whatever this section says.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of your use of Briefcaster is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Ending it

You can stop using Briefcaster at any time by deleting it; everything it stored goes with it. We may end your licence if you breach these terms. Ending the licence does not by itself refund a purchase — that is the store’s decision, under the store’s own policy.

Changes

If these terms change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the app after that means accepting the new version. A change that materially reduces what you get will be described here rather than slipped in.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Missouri have jurisdiction — except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which these terms do not take away.
